Moving Funds Safely
A written checklist for getting crypto from an exchange into a wallet you control, in the order I do it with people. Education only, not advice to buy or sell.
What's inside
- Buy on an exchange you can withdraw from.
- Move it to your own wallet.
- Back up the seed phrase offline on paper, not a screenshot or the cloud.
- Test a restore on a spare device before any serious amount moves.
- Pick the network on purpose and match it on both sides, reading the network name out loud.
- Send a small test amount first.
- Confirm the address before sending: check the first and last characters.
- Never type your seed phrase into a website, and never read it to anyone who asks.
