Send a small test amount before the rest
Before moving funds to a new address or a new network, send a small test amount first, then send the rest.

Before you move funds to a new address or onto a new network, send a small test amount first. It is one small step before anything irreversible.
The steps
- Pick the network on purpose. Match it on both sides, the sending side and the receiving side.
- Read the network name out loud. Slow is fine here.
- Confirm the address. Check the first and last characters against the address you meant to use.
- Send a small test amount.
- Wait until it shows up in the receiving wallet, on the network you picked.
- Then send the rest, to the same address, on the same network.
When I sit with someone to move money, we do a test send first and we read the network name out loud. Small amount first, full amount second.
One more rule from the same checklist: never type your seed phrase into a website, and never read it to anyone who asks. A test send never needs your seed.
