Never give your seed phrase to an AI chatbot
Asking an AI chatbot about a wallet problem is common now, but no answer it gives ever needs your actual seed phrase.
Published ยท Updated
More people now ask an AI chatbot for help with a wallet problem. A chatbot can explain what a seed phrase is. No fix it offers ever needs your actual words. Anyone, or anything, holding those words controls the wallet.
The rule
The seed phrase goes nowhere, ever. That means no chatbot, no screenshot you upload to one, and no website, app, or support chat.
Legitimate support never asks for your seed phrase and never DMs first. Fake support arrives in DMs with a validation site or a seed-phrase form. Urgency is the tell.
Wallet drainers often take funds through signatures and approvals without the seed ever being revealed, so read every signature request too.
What to do instead
- Describe the problem in your own words, with no secrets.
- If a chatbot, page, or person asks for the phrase, stop there.
- If you already typed it somewhere, treat the wallet as exposed. Move what is there to a fresh wallet with a fresh seed.
