Nobody prices coffee in fractions like 0.00004 BTC. Satoshis (named for Bitcoin's creator) are the base unit that makes small amounts speakable: 100 million sats per coin, so a $5 purchase at a $100,000 Bitcoin price is 5,000 sats. Clean.
Thinking in sats also fixes a psychological trap. People see "$100,000 per Bitcoin" and conclude they've missed it, not realizing Bitcoin is divisible to eight decimal places.
